IPL also known as Intense pulsed light technology is a popular technology that permanently reduces the number of regrowing hairs. IPL hair removal devices apply very gentle pulses of light to the hair root. Light pulses are used to damage hair follicles and impair their ability to grow hair. Damaged hair follicles are eliminated, with excellent long-term results.
Ardine IPL tends to work better on thick, dark hair than it does on fine, lighter hair due to the way broad-spectrum light targets melanin pigment. When it comes to skin tones, Ardine IPL is most effective on light skin. With darker skin types, the lightwaves can’t distinguish between the melanin in the follicles and that on the skin, thus heating both instead of just the follicle. This can lead to potential burning, blisters and discoloration, rather than hair removal.
IPL works in a similar way to laser therapy. The difference is that where laser therapy delivers a single wavelength of light energy, IPL delivers multiple wavelengths. This means that IPL can treat a larger area of skin in a shorter time than laser therapy.
IPL has been around for many years and there have been no studies indicating that it is unsafe. IPL does not contain UVA or UVB light rays which are associated with increase skin cancer. There is also no ultraviolet light in IPL therefore it does not damage DNA cells.

Typically, you can expect anywhere from 4-12 treatments to see results if you’re doing IPL at home. Then you will have to do maintenance treatment to fully maximize the hair removal results. Keep in mind that the number of treatments required depends on the hair and skin colour, the area being treated and hormonal influences.

Hair removal Treatment sessions should be scheduled 2-3 times per week. The treatment should go on until hair stop growing back. It usually takes 3-6 months for hair removal treatment. Subsequent sessions should be scheduled whenever you see that some hair has started to grow back until you achieve the desired results.

We ask that you are freshly showered or bathed with completely clean skin, without lotions, oils, creams or fragrances of any kind before coming in.
The treatment area should be shaved completely prior to treatment. Legs should be shaved no sooner than 24 hours prior to your appointment to avoid irritation. Do not wax, tweeze, epilate or use chemical depilatories between laser treatments. Since the laser targets the root of the hair, it must be present for the treatment to be effective. Shaving is the only form of hair removal recommended during the course of your treatments.
Choose the right power setting with the green button. The blue lights on the front will guide you through the intensity level (Low 1 to High 5) Ardine IPL five different power settings to suit your skin tone and sensitivity level. If this is your very first session and if you happen to have sensitive skin, we recommend starting with the lowest level (1) and work your way up to the fifth level (highest). For best results, you should use your handset on the highest possible intensity level that isn’t painful. We recommend gradually increasing the intensity level after each session if the experience was not painful.
If you’ve had recent exposure to sunlight and are tanned as a result then it’s highly recommended that you don’t do home laser hair removal.
It’s also worth noting that you should try to avoid too much giving the treatment area direct exposure to sunlight in the 24-48 hours following a treatment
Yes. In some instance, like chest hair on men, hairs are more resilient so more sessions are required. However, in terms of safety and efficacy, home lasers can be used successfully by both men and women.
